I’m H. Lynn B., a journalist based in Washington, D.C. I’m a web producer at National Geographic, focusing on digital writing, editing, and production of magazine stories, digital news, the homepage, and other daily content. I previously worked for WTOP Radio, running the station’s weekend digital presence, and I have a master’s degree in journalism from Georgetown University, focusing primarily on digital, data, and multimedia skills.
I’m a news junkie with a flair for creativity and an unquenchable desire to learn new things. I have reported, written, and produced stories for a variety of platforms — websites, radio stations, print magazines, newspapers, and books. My work has been featured on various platforms, including National Geographic, Slate, U.S. News and World Report, NPR, and the Free Lance-Star. I love working with large data sets and pieces of code to present information and stories in ways that make sense and save time. I also love good web design, and strive to incorporate it into my work whenever possible.
In addition to my passion for the digital world, I’m also a published creative nonfiction writer. I worked for a small, progressive church for a year, rebuilding their website and revamping their communications strategies. I’m an avid reader and an adventurous traveler. I love to dance to blues music (like these people do!) and I am on the board for Capital Blues, the group in D.C. that organizes weekly and national blues dance events. I also lived in the woods for three summers, working as a counselor at an outdoor camp for kids, which means I can take on just about any challenge with grace and patience.
